Hi! My name isAmanda Rothbarth! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I became a doula because: My journey towards becoming a doula began when I was pregnant with my first baby. At 39 weeks I switched from an OB that continually tried to convince me that a C-Section was what I need to an amazing group of certified nurse midwives. It was the best thing I've ever done. I've had normal deliveries with Barb Norton by my side for both. After my girls were born, I wanted to help women have the wonderful experience of being truly cared for during their birth. What I found was that most were railroaded during a time when a woman is most vulnerable.I started attending births for friends, and in October 2008 I started the process of becoming a certified doula through DONA. Now I am constantly reminded how powerful women are and I feel so honored each time I attend a woman during her labor.
